As you already know my name is Adam Marchant and I currently live in Perth, WA.  I started teaching in the UK some years and emigrated to Perth on 2004.  Since beginning my teaching career I have always had an interest in integrating ICT into my classroom and now in a leadership role have the opportunity to help others do the same. All of my teaching has been done in the Primary setting and over the years I have had a number a different roles.  I have been an upper primary classroom teacher, a Phys Ed specialist, a Maths Specialist and more recently a Deputy Principal.  I have enjoyed teaching all grades from Kindergarten through to Year 6.  My role at Aveley Primary School where I am now employed is that of Foundation Deputy.  As Aveley Primary school is a brand new school opening its doors for the first time in February 2012 my experiences and responsibilities have been a truly amazing journey.  Being part of a team that has been able to grow and nurture a school from the very beginning has been a most rewarding, if somewhat busy, phase of my career.

In 2011 I was lucky enough to be invited to be part of the Teaching Teachers for the Future (TTF) project taking the role of ICT pedagogy officer at University of UWA.  The project involved collaboration of all the higher education establishments in Australia that provide a teacher education program.  The end goal was to investigate and develop the way preservice teachers are exposed to ICT pedagogy.  In the 9 months I had this role I met many truly inspiring people and created many professional networks.  Personally, one thing the project did do for me was open my eyes to the possibilities and untapped resources that ICT offers to teachers.  I realise now that I was just scratching at the tip of the iceberg when it came to how I had previously used ICT in my teaching.

I recently started my masters in Educational Leadership and am very much enjoying exploring the latest educational research. Although last semester I felt it necessary to take a break from my study so I could focus on my job at Aveley (a good choice in hindsight). I have now re-enrolled and am chopping at the bit to get my thesis underway.
